Kidnap gang beat musician and threw him in back of van then stopped off for McDonald

Victim James Davies managed to break free when the trio stopped for snacks - and alerted a police car to his plight


Kidnappers stopped off a McDonald's to pick up a burge r - with their victim tied up in the back of their van.

The three-man gang decided to get something to eat after throwing musician James Davies into their van during the midnight abduction.

But Georgie Rees, 25, David Miller, 26, and Gavin Stone, 39, decided to pull up at drive-thru - after beating Mr Davies.

A court heard the trio ordered two meals at the McDonald's restaurant in Swansea, South Wales, for the midnight snack on the move.

But minutes after the gang tucked into their meals, Mr Davies broke free in a struggle - and flagged down a passing police car.

The McKidnap gang were jailed for a total of more than 20 years after robbing and abducting victim Mr Davies, 21.

Swansea Crown Court heard Mr Davies struggled free when he spotted the passing police van. His injuries included bruising, swelling and cuts to the face.

The three gang members were traced via the van and later admitted robbery and kidnap. Rees, of Ynysforgan, Swansea, and Miller, of Treboeth, Swansea, were jailed for eight years.

Stone, of Feltham, London, was jailed for four years and eight months.
